Cimarron friends, remember this handsome guy? Bandit—the elusive “black dog” who survived on the streets for weeks (maybe months!)—is now safe, healthy, and looking for his person!
✨ Why Bandit is Special:
✔ Street-smart survivor turned sweetheart
✔ Estimated age: 3–4 years
✔ Neutered & vaccinated
✔ Loves people, but needs to be the only dog (for now)
✔ Adoption fees sponsored by a generous donor!
Pit bulls often get a bad rap, but the truth is—they’re loyal, loving, and make incredible companions with the right guidance. Bandit is a good boy who just needs a patient, caring home to help him thrive. He’s scrappy, smart, and ready for his happy ending!
Interested? Contact the City of Cimarron at 620-855-2215 or Mark at 620-253-9284.
If you can’t adopt, please share this post to help Bandit find his person!
Let’s give this survivor the loving guidance he deserves. ❤️🐾

These two sweet brothers are still looking for their forever home!
Milo – Handsome white male
Otis – Adorable black pup
Both are about 7 months old, full of love, and ready to make your home happier! They’ve already enjoyed a spa day (look at those smiles—they LOVED the water!) and will be getting their shots and neuter on Thursday. That means they’ll be ready for adoption Thursday evening!
If you’re ready to welcome double the joy and endless tail wags, call Mark at 620-253-9284 today!

Our community keeps getting better! We’ve added brand-new lighting to the pickleball court, basketball court, and volleyball pit—because here, we believe in creating spaces where neighbors can connect and enjoy life together.
✅ Green Button = Lights ON for your court
❌ Red Button = Lights OFF when you’re done
This is what progress looks like—and it’s happening right here in our amazing town.

Thanks to the Western Kansas Community Foundation (WKCF), The Gray Co Over 50's Center received $11,295 to support their programs—and an extra $750 surprise check for Marilyn to use as needed for programming!

Big News for Little Kids! 🎉
Last month, we received a $5,000 grant from the Community Foundation of Southwest Kansas —and wow, what a difference it’s making!
Please go check it out. Two brand-new pieces of equipment have been added inside the toddler playground, giving our youngest visitors more ways to play safely. And remember those old spring riders that disappeared? They’re BACK with a fresh facelift and ready to bounce for many more years of fun! Thank you to our Public Works guys for helping out where needed! They are beautiful.
Thank you to the Community Foundation of Southwest Kansas for investing in our community’s future. Your generosity helps us create spaces where families can gather, older kids can enjoy the big playground, and toddlers have their own safe spot to play

This incredible gift will fund the purchase of an Orb Rocker and install secure fencing around the toddler play area. The fencing ensures our youngest visitors can play safely on equipment designed for their size—because let’s be honest, 8-year-olds don’t make great babysitters! Meanwhile, older children can enjoy the “big” playground, and families can relax and gather at the Shelter House knowing everyone has a safe space.
In the photo, you’ll see members of our Youth Leadership Advisory Board, who learned about the Foundation’s mission and how this grant connects to the Community Survey conducted earlier this year. Your feedback guided this project—thank you for helping us identify what matters most!
Western Kansas Community Foundation’s generosity is helping us turn community needs into reality. Please continue to complete future surveys so we can keep building spaces that make Cimarron a great place for families.
A huge thank you to Western Kansas Community Foundation for investing in our community’s future!

Ever driven into a town and wondered, “Where’s the courthouse? Do they have an airport?” The City of Cimarron now has the answer—thanks to the creativity and craftsmanship of Cimarron High School’s Ag Welding class.
This year, our talented students are leaving their mark on Cimarron forever by designing and building six custom way-finding directional signs that will guide residents and visitors alike.
Each sign will stand approximately 10 feet tall and 3 feet wide, making them both functional and iconic.
Under the guidance of Mike Curtiss, who designed the stunning wagon trail theme, these students are learning real-world skills while shaping our community's identity. The signs will not only point the way—they’ll tell a story of Cimarron’s heritage and the bright future our youth represent.
Why does this matter? These students are proving that young people can make a lasting impact. These signs will stand for decades, reminding everyone who passes through that Cimarron invests in its youth—and that our youth invest in Cimarron.
Completion is planned by the end of the school year, and when these signs go up, they won’t just direct traffic—they’ll direct pride straight into the heart of our town.
This is what happens when we empower our students. They don’t just learn—they lead. They create. They leave a legacy.
